These have been used since the Vietnam war on the M1 helmet, and subsequent composite designs. These are legit surplus ones, and not the cheap Chinese-made ones that last 2 days and fall off because the elastic is crap. The "Cat Eyes" are great and after a brief charge in the sun, they are good to go for hours. The surplus ones are getting harder to find as cheap imitations have been flooding the market, but these are awesome and are a PERFECT companion to our custom made helmet covers.
