The Dutch factories, under German occupation from 1940 onward, continued to produce these helmets through most of WW2, but in much smaller numbers. These saw action in many major battles, including Stalingrad. After WW2, the Romanian military continued wearing these until the Soviet SsH-40 became the standard issue helmet through the 50s and 60s. These re-worked helmets were often painted, and had their often times worn out original liners replaced with an efficient and cheap liner system made from various materials.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese particular ones are VERY similar to the WW2 liners, but the chin straps are different and thinner. Most of these were melted down for scrap, making them very hard to come by, even in re-worked condition. Can be re-painted and used for WW2 reenacting, or to have an example of a VERY cool helmet to fill a gap in any Cold War collection. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNOTES: These are all used, and were stored in less-than ideal conditions. Repro Adrian helmets can be found, but they're mostly the French Infantry ones, and are the wrong color and shape etc. Well, I've got the next best solution other than buying an original.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are repro helmets that I have put some work in to getting better and closer to the originals. I bent the rims down on the sides to match the original profile of the M15 Adrian, and they don't look too bad compared to my original. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe next thing I've done is popped another hole in the front badge area (don't know why their badges only had one hole to secure it, but at least it was in the right spot and was the right shape) and added a VERY nice replica U.S. Made badge, in this case it's Romania. I then painted this a correct variant of brown (there were tons of different paint shades, I've based this off some original examples) and voila, you've got a kick ass helmet that's VERY hard to find originals of, for a fraction of the price of an original. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese fit about a size 58-61cm head. This particular one has a very nice original Dutch liner from the original contract, but the outside had been repainted, and the chinstrap broken. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo, I also FINALLY got an almost perfect paint color match (photos don't do it justice, even though I tried without a professional studio) to the original color these would have been. I also was able to get a few AWESOME copper replica front badges with the \"King Carol\" crest that was discontinued (mostly) after 1940. The badges were seen throughout the war, as most guys were too indifferent to care to remove it, so that means this helmet is correct for 1939-1945 all the way through. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI carefully stripped the multiple layers of commie paint by hand, polished the outside of the steel shell, applied the badge with epoxy (mimics the original solder\/brazing seen around original badges), then primed and painted the outside of the shell with our beautiful Dutch\/Romanian green paint. These turned out ABSOLUTELY beautiful, and is the closest thing to having a complete, original early-war example of a Romanian M39. Since originals are EXTREMELY rare and VERY expensive, these are now worth the tedious and time-consuming process to start doing. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhether you're a reenactor finally taking the plunge in to WW2 Romanian, or just a collector\/enthusiast looking for an amazing original restored piece of WW2 History for display, you aren't going to find these pretty much anywhere else. Since this isn't a pretty piece, the price reflects that, and it's being sold as a display\/reenactor helmet.
