I aim to keep the prices affordable, and have a mutually beneficial service that works for both of us. So, here are the instructions and terms:

Helmets: I will need to know everything you know/have heard about it, and have detailed pictures of every component one can think of. Too many pictures are better than not enough. Example: A WW2 German M35 helmet you picked up online or at a garage sale. I will need pictures of the outside shell from as many angles as possible, as well as the liner and if possible the lot number and size stamp. The more detailed, the more accurate my Appraisal will be.

Military Surplus Weapons (Firearms and Bayonets): Same terms as the helmets, but I will need to see almost every marking on every part of the weapon. This includes serial numbers and any other visible stamps.

NOTE: I am not licensed, nor do I know everything about everything. I have spent roughly 25 years doing accurate research on military surplus helmets and weapons. The best part of this service, is that because I'm not licensed or "official", it will cost you a lot less, and if I simply can't find accurate prices or information, you will get your money back. It's better to have an affordable opinion before dropping a ton of money on an item that may not be authentic or worth the exuberant asking price.

Refunds: I will give you as accurate of a dollar amount on an appraisal as possible. I will not let personal want/bias affect my work, and will give you as accurate of an appraisal as possible. That being said, if you are not satisfied, and receive an appraisal from a licensed professional, and send me the documentation, and I was way off the mark, a refund will be issued. If you simply thought your item was worth more, that is not grounds for a refund, as this is a common occurrence, but it's how we learn. If I simply can not find any information or know remotely what the item is, a refund will also be issued.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1272/6857/files/15178276_1819496108331847_7355528787867080228_n_c5c0e1cb-af2b-48d7-a2ba-aa9f9618dbf8.png?v=1762179950
replica-u-s-m61-fragmentation-grenade-w-spring-kit-and-markings
Replica U.S. M61 Fragmentation Paper Weight W/Spring Kit and Markings

Initially I was just going to whip a couple of these up for my Vietnam War impression, but then one of my friends asked if I could make them a few. That made me think that more people would probably like to have a somewhat accurate replica of the paper weight used by U.S. and Allied forces in the Vietnam War. Whether it be for a reenacting/living history display, or just to display in your office or war room, I think these are pretty cool.

What they are: These are the typical "paperweight" INERT things with the holes in the bottom that are everywhere. I take the time to install the spring kits and safety clips, prime, paint, and hand stamp each one with period correct markings sourced from original examples. This process takes a fair amount of time and effort, and the stamping is, well, a lot trickier than it sounds. SO, expect the stamping to not be "perfect" (they weren't even then) as pictured. Expect the body itself to not have been ground/finished that well at the factory, which is the same as all the paperweights. I keep the really bad ones for myself, so you won't get an absolutely terrible one.

What you will get: My offering of the closest I can get to an original M61 Fragmentation Paperweight. The ink used in the stamps is industrial ink, and will last quite a while even when at events. Early M15 helmets were painted a bright horizon blue that was highly visible, so soldiers began using mud to dull the finish, and even fashioned some covers for the same purpose. By mid 1916 through the end, a darker shade overall was standardized, and that's what I have chosen to replicate on these particular helmets. That being said, there were literally dozens of different shades of helmets in the first World War, as with any standardized color at the time.

I used an original late war Adrian in my collection and had the paint digitally matched to be almost identical to it. I applied these with a paint sprayer and the finish isn't super smooth, but it is extremely close in appearance to original examples. As you can see in the photos, it looks like a different shade in different lighting from different angles, much like the originals. These have a decent weight (albeit slightly heavier than originals), decent liner, and correct shape overall, which is a big deal. Overall I'd give these a solid 8/10. Maybe a new liner if you so choose, but even these liners aren't much different than a lot of the mid-late war ones.

Liners come standard ready to fit about a size 61Cm head, but you can place foam or aluminum spacers like they had originally for this purpose behind the leather to make it smaller, or just replace the liner with one that fits you. That made me think that more people would probably like to have a somewhat accurate replica of the paper weight used by U.S. and Allied forces in the Vietnam War and beyond. Whether it be for a reenacting/living history display, or just to display in your office or war room, I think these are pretty cool. This batch has the yellow ring on the top like VERY early Vietnam-Era M67s did to throw some variation in your collection.

I personally mounted one of these on my M1 Carbine stock and although it's a tight fit, since they're brand-new, it not only functions, but looks freaking awesome. These hold 2 15 round mags (No, not included, all you "deal seekers" out there) and although they're tight, that's how they would have been issued. These work with the U.S. WW1/WW2 pistol belts and later with the snap to secure it as well.

NOTES: Most of these are from the same manufacturer and are dated 1943, that being said, expect minor variations.
