Everybody needs a pair of heavy duty wire cutters for those tough tasks, or just for manicuring your Christmas tree. Who knows, really.
In all seriousness, these are a sapper's best friend for a reason. Used to cut through barbed wire or communications wire, these are built super tough, and are ready to hold up to the job. These weigh almost 2 pounds, and are made of all steel. The handles fold out to allow for more leverage, but fold up to allow these to be more compact and carried in a pouch.
This design was used from WW2 all the way until recently.
I believe the pouches that came with these are reproductions, but they carry the tools just fine, and are built tough enough.
