Swiss surplus is some of the best stuff around, which is why we get it every chance we can. These mess kits are no exception. Swiss quality construction as you'd expect. The body of the kit is made of lightweight durable aluminum, and the handle is steel.
These are all used, so expect the paint to be chipping off (something they actually didn't get right). It appears the Swiss simple painted these black, and didn't realize that when heat is applied, these will start chipping. Either way, I think the chipped paint gives them character, and they're still 100% functional.
These are bigger than most European mess kits, and are similar in size and design to the WW1 German mess kits.
Pair these with our Swiss M1971 camp stoves for a great set to do some cooking out in the field.
Dates will vary but this is the same style the Swiss have been using for over 80 years.
