Another super cool (and now really hard to find) piece of Cold War HIstory. These iconic packs were made from Hemp and Flax fibers starting during WW2 since cotton was harder to get in Europe for whatever reason, a blockade or something, I don't know.... Anyway, the fabric was actually quite cheap and VERY strong, but yielded this super cool "salt and pepper" appearance that stuck with Swiss gear until it was replaced by that Vinyl crap in the 90s. This pack is a "medium" pack so it was intended for 2 days or so of gear to carry with you. Straps are old but with some saddle soap, they would still be great. This pack has plenty of life left in it, and legit ones like this are getting VERY hard to come by, and super expensive. So expensive usually, that companies have actually started making replicas of these popular bags. These are legit, and are not replicas.
Dated 1956.
