These have been used since the Vietnam war on the M1 helmet, and subsequent composite designs. These are legit surplus ones, and not the cheap Chinese-made ones that last 2 days and fall off because the elastic is crap. I worked for a while getting a stamp made that's as close to the originals as possible, and I finally did that. These look GREAT on Vietnam era helmets without having to ruin a hard-to-find original.
The cat eyes have been carefully removed, and the stitch holes are pretty well hidden as these are new and still very elastic. A hardcore collector will be able to tell these aren't actual Vietnam era bands, but for reenacting or display, these are the only option besides getting an expensive original. These do fade after being used for a while like the originals, and look fantastic!
